Number Of Solar Panels And Windturbines Required To Power UK?

Hello, my name is Dave and I'm in serious need of some statistics for writing an essay and was wondering

How many wind turbines it would take to power the United Kingdom (UK) and the World
respectively?

Also how many solar panels would it take to power the United Kingdom (UK) and the World
respectively?

Thanks in advance for any answers please give source if you can.

If you think you can help Dave please leave a comment.

  1. 10,000 wind turbines to power the UK. Sorry, that's the only one I know.

    Hope I helped,

  2. kind of an irrelevant question, or at least would be...in the future.
The real estate needed to actually set up wind farms to power whole cities or countries would be impractical, cost too much and there just won't be enough open space to do it with the growing populations. One can put solar panels on any flat surface available like roofs, towers, signs, etc to augment power usage, but in the end, both wind and solar have periods where they are relatively useless, which means you go back to the gool ole Amish natural living by candle-light, or you have to have battery stations with voltage converters and regulators. Which are generally bulky and in one area, a potential hydrogen explosion hazard if you resort to warehouse sized battery rooms.
